Being able to track water quality improvements over time will help us to better understand what projects are truly successful and how to prioritize future work. The 2008 Aux Sable Creek Watershed Management Plan recommends expanding monitoring beyond the Eco-Watch RiverWatch volunteer programs and IEPA/DNR programs that have occurred in various places of the watershed.  It is recommended that additional sites be monitored on each of the tributaries to the Aux Sable Creek (West Aux Sable Creek, Collins Run, Saratoga Creek, Valley Run, Walley Run, Lisbon Creek, Middle Aux Sable Creek, East Aux Sable Creek) to monitor water quality.  A Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP) is recommended which is a detailed description of the monitoring methods/components along with reasoning behind the procedure.  This would ensure consistent methodology and is required for any Section 319 grant that might support such efforts.  The data provided through monitoring can provide guidance and information for watershed management activities.

When a monitoring plan is developed, more information will be posted on the website.  In the meantime, if you are interested in partnering to start a project please contact us.
