Come out and explore our rivers and streams.  The Aux Sable Creek watershed is a sub-watershed of the Upper Illinois River watershed in northeastern Illinois.  It is drains 119,911.14 acres (187.36 square miles).  Much of the land and creek are in private ownership.  Public access to the Aux Sable Creek is available at Baker Forest Preserve on Route 52 approximately one mile west of Ridge Road and one mile east of McKanna, Minooka, IL.

Watershed Information
Seventy-eight percent of the watershed is in Kendall County.  Twenty-two percent is in Grundy County.  Less than one percent is in Will County.  Communities that are in or growing into the watershed include: Channahon, Joliet, Minooka, Morris, Oswego, Plainfield, Plattville, and Yorkville.

The Aux Sable Creek Watershed Coalition has been working to educate communities and preserve the Aux Sable Creek Watershed since 2001.  Their efforts have lead to the development of an updated watershed plan that calls for stream monitoring and restoration projects.
