Some streams in the Chicagoland area benefit from citizen and volunteer groups who monitor the biological quality of the creek. The Aux Sable Creek Watershed does not currently have such a program. A local 4H group annual participates in Illinois Department of Natural Resources EcoWatch/RiverWatch program. Monitoring is also completed by the Kendall County Forest Preserve District at Baker Woods, as well as by the IEPA/DNR programs. During the plan update in 2007-2009, a coordinated and guided monitoring network was recommended. If you are interested in partnering to start a watershed-wide monitoring program please visit the monitoring section of this website and contact us. |
